Kilometres for Kids
AdaptAbilities places a strong emphasis on community interaction
and social development To accomplish this goal, we encourage children to explore activities
of interest, giving them an opportunity to develop life-long skills, and a positive attitude
towards active participation in community events. These activities may include recreation and
leisure opportunities, educational fieldtrips, sporting events, and social events. With these
programs in place, barriers children experience can then include the lack of funding for transportation.
Kilometres for Kids gives you the chance to “open the road” for children. It costs
families $0.35 per kilometre to provide transportation for their children within their
communities. Your support will assist families in meeting transportation specific costs
to help them ensure that their child has the opportunity to become a positive, active
member of his/her community.
Examples of Sponsorship:
20 kilometres = $ 7.00
100 kilometres = $ 35.00
200 kilometres = $ 70.00
500 kilometres = $ 175.00
750 kilometres = $ 262.50
1000 kilometres = $ 350.00

Kids in Communities
AdaptAbilities is dedicated to providing experiences for children that develop the whole child;
physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. We believe that this is often best accomplished
when the child is able to spend time experiencing their community in a variety of ways. Building
connections with community members, learning new skills, becoming aware of community opportunities
and resources, and just having fun all contribute to the development of the whole child.
Many families struggle to provide the basic necessities for their children, making it difficult
for them to provide the funds for their child to participate in community activities. Our goal is
to increase opportunities for children with special needs to participate in their communities.
Sponsorship in this area may come in a variety of forms. A dollar donation, tickets, gift
certificates, coupons, and discount cards will allow children to access programs and facilities
in their communities and experience activities they may not have otherwise.
