Program Description:
Is your teen itching to spread their wings and hang out with other teens like themselves?
AdaptAbilities’ offers youth the chance to relax and meet new friends. Each week, teens plan a variety of recreational activities and our relief care specialists guide participants in making appropriate and fun choices. As a result, teens improve their decision making skills, become more independent and increase their participation in the community.
Prerequisites:
Participants must be able to function in a 1:5 staff to
participant ratio
Potential activities include:
Swimming, bowling, playing pool, candle making,
tie-dying, food preparation, self-presentation skills,
self-defense, theater sports/drama, field games, sports,
movie night, tobogganing, skating, yoga, weight
training, girls night/guys night, bus coaching, laser
tag, resume writing, interview skills and just about
anything else our creative staff and kids can come up
with.
Dates/Cost/Location:
McKernan Respite Centre (11226-75th Ave.)
Teen Night runs every Thursday night from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Teen Nights running through the summer are dependent on interest and demand.
Meadowlark Centre (8721-163rd St.)
Pre-Teen/Teen Program for Youth Diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome
Tourette Teen Night runs a number of ten (10) week sessions from September to June from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on Fridays.
For both McKernan and Meadowlark Centre Teen Nights, there is an hourly rate billed to an individuals’ funding agency plus an additional Program Fee. Program fee covers all costs associated with the program including transportation, entrance fees, craft supplies, etc. Additional purchases ie. popcorn at the movies would be the responsibility of each participant.
